For my second collaboration with Australian brand The Boho Shed, they sent me two gorgeous kimonos, and I immediately started dreaming up different ways to style them. Two beautiful pieces turned into three completely different looks, each with its own personality.
We had an amazing creative team for this one, starting with our gorgeous model, Delany Dyer, a professional dancer and NFL cheerleader. We were lucky enough to have Jillian Smith and Haven Hair Salon host us while Jillian worked her magic on Delany's hair and Mayra Machado took care of makeup. Mayra also joined us at the beach for touch ups throughout the shoot.
The California coastline had been experiencing some pretty extreme conditions, with unusually high tides and significant beach erosion. When we arrived at our first planned beach, it was closed. So we headed to our backup location, only to find that beach closed too! Thankfully, our third beach ended up being incredible. The rocks, the ocean, the light. Everything was beautiful. The tide was still unbelievably high, but we made it work, and I honestly couldn't have imagined a better setting.
The funny part is that we had already named this editorial High Tide long before heading to Malibu. Little did we know just how fitting that name would be!
We started with a fun, festival inspired look, pairing the kimono with denim shorts and cowboy boots. Then we moved into something softer and more romantic, with an almost mermaid feel among the rocks. As the sun began to set, we finished by the water with a black bikini and sheer embroidered kimono for something a little more sultry.
Three different looks, two beautiful kimonos, and one unforgettable evening in Malibu.
I love creating editorials like this. You go in with a vision, but sometimes things don't go quite as planned, and that's part of the fun. Especially when you're surrounded by talented people who are just as excited to create as you are.
High Tide certainly lived up to its name.

For my second collaboration with Australian brand The Boho Shed, I wanted to create something a little different. They sent me two beautiful kimonos, and I styled three looks around them, each with its own feel. We headed to Malibu to catch the last of that summer warmth, with beautiful evening light, ocean breezes, and just the right amount of moodiness. I love seeing how a few pieces can inspire something completely different, especially when I get to create alongside such a talented team.
Whether you're a clothing brand, creative business, model, or someone dreaming up a unique portrait experience, I'd love to collaborate.
Some of my favorite work begins with a simple idea and grows into something beautiful through thoughtful planning, meaningful connection, and a talented creative team.
Let's create something beautiful together.
From one editorial to the next, each collaboration begins with a simple idea and becomes something unforgettable.
