Molly is family, and I have had the privilege of photographing her throughout her whole life. We jokingly call her grandparents’ house my “studio gallery” because their walls are filled with photographs I have taken of their family over the years, from maternity and newborn photos to all of the grandkids growing up, and now senior portraits.
The year before her senior season, we photographed her dance portraits at El Matador Beach in Malibu.
You can see that session here:
During her senior year, Molly had three separate sessions, each giving us something completely different.
We started in the studio with updated dance headshots for the audition season ahead. The goal was to give Molly current images she could confidently use as she submitted for auditions and opportunities throughout the year. We also worked in a few movement shots, giving her a mix of clean dance headshots and images that showed her as a dancer.
Next, we headed outdoors for a quick flower field session in Simi Valley.
It gave Molly a completely different look from the studio, with soft natural light, open space, and the flowers adding a little color and texture. It was a simple second set of portraits that felt relaxed and easy.
Her final session was a full senior portrait session in an open field at sunset, with warm light and a completely different feel from everything we had created earlier in the year.
By the end of it, Molly’s senior portraits included such a fun mix of dance headshots, movement, flowers, and sunset images.
Molly graduated from Oaks Christian School and is headed to Grand Canyon University for her next chapter.
Location: Simi Valley, California
